Wilders Establishes Foundational Herd

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C., (October 30, 2021) – Wilders, a new agriculture venture of RiverWild, recently established their foundational herd of Fullblood Wagyu through a series of sales and private treaties.

In December 2020, the Wilders team hand-picked over 40 animals from Bowman Farms, including F040 Sanjirou and upcoming herd sire H042, along with numerous other Fullblood Wagyu. The cows were shortly thereafter moved onto the Smith Family Farm in Clayton, NC, where they joined the rest of the Wilders herd.

In March of 2021, the Wilders team attended the Bowman Farms Dispersion Sale in Roaring River, NC. There, they obtained bull H038 and donor cows C915 and W002.

Vermont Wagyu was also a significant source for Wilder’s foundational herd. In October of 2021, the Wilders team picked up donor cow H130, and herd sire H074 at the Vermont Wagyu Sale, rounding out a well-balanced founding herd to build on for generations to come.

Since then, the Wilders team has worked with genetics consultants such as Michael Goodell to build on that foundation through natural breeding and high-grade frozen genetics. The team has expanded and built upon great foundations to deliver continually improving products for their clients.

Wilders future plans include genetics production, Wagyu beef sales, private treaties, and plans for a production sale. For more information visit wilderswagyu.com
